Kenya Records the Highest Number of COVID-19 Cases

Kenya has recorded 45 new positive cases of COVID-19, the highest number the country has ever recorded in 24 hours since confirming its first COVID-19 case on March 13th, 2020.

 

The results were announced by Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Mutahi Kagwe in the daily press release bringing the total toll number to 537 positive cases in Kenya. The 45 cases were from 1077 samples collected, out of which 30 were males, and 15 were females. Nairobi and Mombasa counties continue to be key hotspot areas of the virus. Out of the 45 new cases, 29 were from Nairobi, 11 from Mombasa, five from Wajir, and one Somalia national. Positive to note, there were nine new recoveries bringing the total number to 182 recoveries.

 

Eastleigh town is the most affected in Nairobi County, all the positive cases recorded in Nairobi County today were from Eastleigh. The town has a total of 63 positive cases, an indication of community transmission; currently, the government is doing mass testing from the hotspot area and robust contact tracing to curb its spread.

 

The government further urged the citizens to be responsible and observe all the measures the ministry of health have imposed. It is also noted that most Kenyans have started resuming to work and acting normally in this pandemic. The CS Mutahi Kagwe said things are far from being better, he further warned the citizens, and the restaurants not observing the measures imposed will face the law.
