Preparations are underway for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) which is scheduled to be held in Tunisia in November, according to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Deputy Special Representative for Political Affairs in Libya Stephanie Williams.

Williams made the assurances during her working visit to Russia, where she met with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The LPDF is expected to be attended by representatives of all political factions in Libya as efforts to find lasting peace continue.

Libya has experienced relative peace since a ceasefire was announced at end of August.

The north African country has been dogged by conflict since the 2011 ouster and killing of former president Muammar Gaddafi.

Various factions have been battling for control of the country, a situation worsened by human trafficking cells.

In his meeting with Williams, Lavrov reaffirmed Russia's intention to continue to work actively towards an early rapprochement between Libyan parties and the creation of conditions for the establishment of united bodies of authority based on the decisions of the Berlin Peace Conference and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2510.

Williams also met with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov.
