10 children have lost their lives after lightning struck and killed them in Uganda`s North-western city of Arua. Reports indicated the area experienced heavy downpour, along with thunder and lightning.

Heavy rainfall on Thursday invigorated the minors to take refuge under near-by grass-thatched structure after they suspended their football game when the building was struck by lightning killing nine children aged 13 to 15. They all died on the spot and two died on their way to a health facility.

The survivors are luckily seeking treatment at the regional hospital. According to Ugandan authorities this was the worst incident since 2011 in Uganda 's history. Before that, at a school in the Mid-Western region, 18 children were killed. Uganda reported 28 fatalities in a single week from lightning strikes that year.
