Nigeria’s first female Air Force combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile has died in a road accident.

Flying officer Arotile’s cause of death has been reported to have been as a result of severe head injuries sustained from a road accident that occurred at the Nigeria Air Force(NAF) base in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. According to a press release by NAF Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile’s demise was rather unfortunate and an irreplaceable one having just been decorated as the first female combatants helicopter pilot less than a year ago. Tolulope Arotile, was commissioned into the Nigerian Air Force as a member of the Nigerian Defense Academy Regular Course 64 in September 2017 and then moved on to become the first-ever female combat helicopter pilot in the Service in Nigeria.‬ She also contributed significantly to efforts in ridding the North Central States in Nigeria of several criminal elements and armed bandits during her rather brief but impactful life by flying several combat missions.

Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile graduated in 2017 as the best flight student from the Nigerian Air Force.
