An Orthodox monk from Ethiopia name Tilahun Woldemichael, who claims to be 114 years old, according to his family has survived the novel virus. On Thursday he was discharged from the hospital after he spent three weeks under isolation.

Tilahun Woldemichael received dexamethasone, oxygen, and commonly available steroids, which according to England researchers reduces the rate of mortality up to one third, in numerous patients.

The Health Minister of Ethiopia says, “The ministry recommends an emergency utilization of the medication for patients infected with COVID-19, who are in dire need of oxygen or ventilators”.

According to Biniam Leulseged, Tilahun’s grandson, “he has no birth certificate to officially prove the age of the monk”, but a picture of him was issued, which showed the monk commemorating his 100th birthday with his family.

When the monk was escorted to the hospital, his family was devastated, but now "I am happy we all are together once again”. Ethiopia records over 5,200 confirmed cases of the virus.
