Lagos Govt to Build International Infectious Disease Research Center Donated By CACOVID

Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday made a statement highlighting that the state government had established plans and procedures on the construction of a new, well-furnished purpose-built International Infectious Disease Research Centre, which is located at Yaba, Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital.


His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, disclosed this information, amid the official launch of the 150-bed donated by Private Sector Coalition Against COVID19 (CACOVID) at Mainland Infectious Disease Isolation Centre to the state government, aimed at COVID-19 response,

The measures were however part of the state government response to fight against the pandemic as well as the preparedness to another infectious disease post-COVID-19 era.


The newly built isolation center comes furnished with ancillary facilities, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory, waste management system, a routine laboratory, bouquet of administrative and, a water treatment plant.


In addition to this, the state government will construct permanent isolation wards as well as a purpose-built doctors’ quarters, to increase the capacity of any infectious disease outbreak in Lagos State.


The Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu, wasted no time in commending CACOVID, for the donation of the isolation center in Lagos State, to respond to the outbreak. He further added that the facility will add to the state capacity and permit the facility to do more to combat the pandemic.
