President Kenyatta Uhuru orders EAC flags be flown half-mast in honour of Late Pierre Nkurunziza

President of Kenya, Kenyatta Uhuru today ordered that the Kenyan flag alongside East African community flag be flown half-mast on June 13, Saturday with aim of honoring the late President of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza. 

 

In a presidential proclamation, President Uhuru Kenyatta says, “the Kenyan flag will be flown half-mast from dawn till the sun sets at every public ground, building, Kenya Diplomatic Missions abroad and finally the entire territory of the Republic of Kenya”. The Government of Burundi as well ordered a seven days national mourning from Tuesday, with Burundi’s flag flying half-mast.  

 

“In solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the Republic of Burundi, the wider East African communities and the entire African continent, is in a state of mourning the unfortunate demise of a great son of Africa. I President Uhuru Kenyatta, under the authorities bestowed in me, do hereby direct that in memory of Late Pierre, the Flag of Kenya and the EAC flag be flown half-mast from dawn on June 13th to sunset of June 14th”, President Kenyatta added.
