Ridesharing platform Uber has introduced an avenue in the form of an app-specific account which will enable its customers to preload money for their future trip payments and that of other Uber products and services.

Uber launched the new arrangement as part of its effort to aid cashless transactions in the country as well as offer an easy way out to make payments across its platform’s subsidiaries for all its users. Promising them a seamless experience, the new option has an easy, convenient, and reliable method of payment that is easily controllable according to a statement from Alon Lits, the Director of Uber in Sub-Saharan Africa. It further offers control of payment to Uber customers and can be preloaded with any amount of money for future use whenever in need of it, as the account can be topped-up using the user’s Ride account.

Making Top-ups on Uber Cash is similar to that of phone airtime increases as users can do this via their USSD, bank transfer, debit/credit card, or Barter for payment of use.
