The People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China donated several medical supplies to the Defence Force of Rwanda, to support the country in the combat against COVID-19 pandemic.
The Rwandan Ministry of Defence in a statement said, “The donations aimed at controlling and preventing COVID-19, valued at US$290,000 were received by General Bosco Kazura, the Rwanda Chief of Defence Force at the Kigali International Airport, through an airlift by the PLA Air Force".
During the official exchange of the supplies to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Rao Hongwei, the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, says that the supplies are for the people of Rwanda, to support the people and the country Military in the fight against the pandemic. This is however an indication of a profound friendship between Rwanda and China.
Kazura says, “the donated supplies depict that, if our efforts are merged, we shall indeed overcome various challenges, most especially the pandemic”.
