Dr. Adedamola Dada, FMC chief Medical Director at the COVID-19 Connect Centre amid the Virtual inauguration stated, “The mobile application will be utilized in screening symptoms of the virus as well as connecting cases of high magnitude to medical responders on the subsequent phase to manage and handle their care.
The chief medical director further stated that the mobile app will effectively alert users on a daily bases to carry out checks and monitor any slight symptoms such as body temperature, headaches, cough, and other vital symptoms, in line with the guidelines of the NCDC.
“Without any hesitation, we are committed to working hand in hand with the Lagos State response to support and contain the spread of COVID-19 via an established partnership with PharmAccess.
According to Ms. Njide Ndili, Foundation Country Director of PharmAccess, noted that the mobile app would award users the ease of self-monitoring as well as providing access to individuals within the high-risk group to medical operatives for triage and counseling.
Other benefits include encouraging home isolation, suspected cases detection for containment and testing, freeing up healthcare facilities for more severe cases, grants the state the ability to maximize resources for patients with active symptoms, and care for mild cases.
The Netherlands government has indicated interest in support of this initiative, synergizing with the Nigeria Government to fight against the pandemic. According to Mr. Jan Van Weijen, “The mobile app will help curb and fight against the spread of COVID-19”.
