Following the accusation and arrest of the former first lady of Lesotho, Measaiah Thabane, a bail of 1,000 maloti ($57) was allotted by the Lesotho high court, making Measaiah a free woman. However, the Lesotho High court of appeal has repealed her bail and issued an immediate rearrest.

With no time to spare, the former first lady Maesaiah Thabane, absconds the country, just a day after her rearrest was ordered, by the high court of Appeal. According to the nation’s police, the former first lady is alleged to have orchestrated and coordinated the assassination of her husband’s estranged wife Lipolelo Thabane in 2017, killing Lipolelo just outside her residence, in the capital of Maseru.

The nation’s police also charged her with the attempted murder of Thato Sibolla, a close friend to Lipolelo Thabane’s. Thato Sibolla however survived the attack only sustaining wounds at the crime scene. Holomo Molibeli, commissioner of Lesotho police stated, the lawyer to the ex-first lady, informed the authorities that she accompanied her husband Thomas Thabane for medical treatment in South Africa”, this only fueled the matter on ground, causing more suspicion, and unsure of her date of return.

Thomas alongside Maesaiah denied the allegations, discarding any form of involvement in the death of Lipolelo Thabane. Former Finance minister, Moeketsi Majoro, was successfully sworn in as the new Lesotho prime minister replacing octogenarian ruler.
