Apple Music announces Nigeria’s DJ Cuppy as host of its first Africa Now Radio show

Music streaming platform Apple Music has announced Nigerian female disc jockey Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola who is better known as DJ Cuppy, as the host of its about to be launched a first radio show in Africa come Sunday, May 31, 2020.

 

Apple made the announcement on Thursday while introducing the show tagged “Africa Now With Cuppy” which will feature a blend of contemporary and traditional popular African sounds and genres such as Amapiano, Afrobeats, Highlife, Alte, House, Hip-Hop, Afrobongo or Kuduro, and lots more.

Apple further stated that listeners will have the chance to listen to what it called the latest and greatest African music artists as well as new releases of African popular music, fused with local and contemporary sensibilities, morphing into hybridized sonic fragments that connect all of Africa. Cuppy who is a DJ and a music producer, will host the weekly one-hour show which will be available at 9:00 a.m EDT. S

he said the show will represent a journey across all corners of Africa, from East to West and North to South, but most importantly it will represent a narrative of the then Africa to the Africa of today.

 

Apple Music has over 60 million listeners from more than 160 countries across the globe, with a growing presence in 30 African countries so far.
