Africa is considered one of the most vulnerable continents in the world when it comes to climate change. Over the weeks several countries across Africa have been hit with one climate catastrophe or the other, from forest fires, droughts, rise in sea-level, down to locusts plague.

Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan suffers from Hordes of desert Locusts invasion, as a result of global warming, wiping out 200,000 hectares of land. Kenya on the other hand, is one country that has suffered relentlessly from its constant rainfall causing Lake Victoria water levels to rise leaving over 100,000 displaced and thousands dead. Climate change has indeed taken on biblical proportions in various regions.

What exactly are the African leaders doing about this?

The world is entering into a phase much worse than the COVID-19 pandemic. Now is the best time for African leaders to wake up from their slumber and increase the cognizance of their citizens.

What is the way forward?

Cutting down on emission, terminate gas flaring, trading of wood should come to an end, enforce reforestation, and the government should fine anyone that goes against rules. With all this done climate change will drastically be on the minimal.
