President Muhammadu Buhari has given a go ahead for the importation of Madagascar’s acclaimed remedy used in curing Covid-19 patients to Nigeria according to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha.

While giving an update during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on a Covid-19, the SGF stated that Madagascar has allocated portions of the remedy to various countries and sent them out to Guinea-Bissau, and that Nigeria will now put plans in motion to freight its own allocation from Guinea-Bissau, of which on touchdown into the country, it will immediately be subjected to standard pharmaceuticals validation processes.

Boss Mustapha made it clear that Mr. President has given a thumbs up for the airlifting of Nigeria’s share of the Madagascar Covid-19 syrup, but with a clear warning that there shouldn’t be any exception towards the necessary pharmaceuticals standard validation process the samples are supposed to be subjected to. Madagascar claims the syrup was derived from a combination of artemisia—a plant proven to have anti malaria properties and other indigenous herbs. Guinea-Bissau, Niger, Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea are among the nation that have already received their allocation of the syrup
